In Vishnu sahasranaama stotram, the name “mahavaraaha:” has been attributed to Srihari; as he destroyed the great daithyaas or he is called as Mahavaraaha as he came out of the nose of Brahma and took the boar avataara.

Lord Vishnu in his incarnation as Lord Varaha, has lifted the earth which was hidden by the powerful daitya Hiranyaksha in the ocean, and killed the Demon Hiranyaksha.

Lakshmi Varaha Temple located at Demal Village in Aul in Kendarpara District in Orissa is one such rare temple. The Varaha murti worshipped at the temple is made from a single piece of black stone. The temple also has the footprints of Lakshmi Varaha. Varaha is worshipped along with Sridevi and Bhoodevi.

HOW TO GET THERE

To reach this place take the Bangalore Mysore highway and take a deviation from Pandupura.

The village is 32 km from this turn at Pandupura. Kalhalli comes under the KR Pet taluk of Mandya district.

After taking the deviation from Pandupura, you come across many beautiful villages like Aaralukuppe, Katere, Hosa Kanambadi, Banamgadi, Belenahalli and Gangikere. Gangikere is the nearest bus stop for KSRTC buses and Kalhalli is about 2 km from here.

One has to hire a local vehicle from Gangikere or walk up to the temple

Those who have been planning to buy a house or build one and is not getting materialised should surely visit this temple. A very small temple. Those who visit this temple would surely not come empty handed.
