Shri Nara,
...
IMO, this is a superficial equivalency...
I really did expect something similar... you have not disappointed!
Rationale does not give way to compassion... it is the nature of the individual. We cannot change the nature of the mind easily, unless by the karmic way. So your saying that man always works up a rationale first, based on which the mind works does not, IMO, hold water.
The mind acts based on its nature, which it has imbibed through its karma, which is again a combination of Sathwam, Rajas or Thamas.
The rationale comes later. Later, it is becomes a force of habit.
...When a devout and scholarly person refuses to go to the temple he loved all his life because of Dalit temple entry, we can easily see the connection between this act and the underlying motivation of caste.
He probably connected the rajasic/thamasic nature of the dalits which would influence the positive vibes in the temple.
... The same cannot said when a couple of compassionate people, who happened to be born Brahmins helped BRA. When they helped this Dalit get an education they were actually going against the caste system.
No, they were not going againsy the caste system. Under ordinary circumstances, the shudra should not undertake the vedic studies; that is all. Otherwise, you would get perverted interpretations like what BRA did. And such interpretations, sometimes, they even lure empathetic minds to their tune!
The materialistic education is something different, a lure in kali yuga.
Regards,
