In Sanskrit the word Fruit(Phalam) is Neuter and the word Vegetable(Shaka) is Feminine.

But individually some vegetables/Fruits are masculine gender and some are feminine gender and some neuter.

Interestingly the Banana(. कदली.) is considered Feminine in Sanskrit even though visually its not.
