I have great faith in Saibaba, both Shridi and Puttaparthi. Miracles have happened in my life. But i don'd question any of his doings. But some devotees are not happy about his visit to the house of Karunanithi. Was it okay?
sundararajan.

Let those "devotees" be unhappy cos many people in this world want even God to behave they way they dictate.
Sathya Sai Baba had met MK to discuss the Water Project and further more for Baba everyone is an Atma and He is judging no one.

We dont know Karma of each everyone be it "sinner" or a saint.

I remember when Sathya Sai Baba passed away and Nithyananda went to pay his last respects to Baba..many devotees here in Malaysia got upset.
They were saying why should a person like Nithyananda show his face to Baba and I just told them off.."hey Nithya has better karma to me and you..we didnt get the chance to pay last respects"

That's the world my dear..people only want to see what their minds think.
Baba has even met Idi Amin before and Idi Amin gave Baba a full state welcome.

We humans only see faults in others but God only sees the unsullied Atma beneath all of us.
Doesn't a mother love both her good child and her "bad" child?

As far as I am Concerned,I never believe Sai Baba or any other God Man,but I strongly believe God and have maximum faith over Elders and our Ancestors. Saibaba,Nityananda or any other God Man can never be compared to God. Near Madurai there is a Fraud Lady, who says that she was Rukmani when Sai Baba was Lord Krishna in Kretha Yugha. If there are people to believe whatever a Man Says Naturally Sanyasis will Exist again and again. Aadhi Shankaracharya,Ramanuja Aacharya and many more Maga Rishis performed a Very Simple Living before the people. But these God Men trying to Cheat People with Their Belief as Their Capital. If everyone started to believe in Hard Work and Honesty There is no need for God Men on the Earth.

hri Sundararajan,

I am not a devotee of Satya Sai Baba (SSB) though I revere the Shirdi Sai Baba. SSB was a more worldly person unlike the Shirdi Baba. Whether SSB was God incarnate or not, once having been born as a human being, even God has to be bound by the normal rules, laws, customs and etiquettes of the mortal human world in which he happens to be born. Remember how Sri Rama justified his killing of Vaali from hiding.

So imo, SSB visiting MK was a definite admission on the part of SSB that the temporal and political stature of MK was higher than the presumed supernatural powers attributed by devotees to and so SSB, even if he was God incarnate himself, had to go to MK in order to get the latter's green signal for something or the other. To me this goes as yet another evidence or proof of SSB being just an ordinary mortal like you and me, (we just cannot even imagine our calling MK to our house and asking him to sign on the dotted line, you see) but SSB was immensely successful in his career (as a Godman), say, like Bill Gates or Infosys Narayanamurthy and others like them.

shirdi sai baba told abdullah that he will be born after 8 years in madras presidency.precisely sai baba was born in parthi.again sai baba has told he will be born after eight years in a place called guna-parthi in karnataka.as prema sai baba, completing the promise made to sage bharadwaja muni by lord shiva and goddess sakthi in thretha yuga.only by divine grace god in an avatar form can be recognised.even during lord krishnas avatram time, not all recognised the lords divinity.this is the same thing again in kali yuga.

So is this reincarnation similar to the rebirths of the Tibetan lamas (like Panchen Lama)? Also is His Holiness the Dalai Lama comparable to Sai Baba since presumably he will be reborn again as another Dalai Lama?

Eka Atma Sarva Bhutaantaraatma..so who isnt Divine in the real sense?

buddha incarnated much later, whereas lord shiva & goddess shakthi, are time immemorial with their counterparts of lord vishnu goddess lakshmi & lord brahmaa godess saraswathy.in fact lord buddha as per guru srila prabhupada is an incarnation of lord vishnu, namely the ninth one.though for me its lord balaraman .so minor darshanas have various interpretations.even though achintha bheda abheda tatvam is popular.lord buddha was saying shunya vaadha tathvam, which again is another darshana,i guess.reincarnation is explained in all religions, even in popular christanity.but owing to religious agendas, religious leaders refuse to harmonise the one truth, which is the common truth for all.hh dalai lama is a fractal of lord vishnus potency as per iskcon philosophy,is my understanding.sai baba is avatar of all known religions in the world and is the kaliyuga avatram born in three phases.1838 to 1918.1926 - 2011.2018 - ? in the future,is my understanding.sai rama krishna.

Why this fascination with so called godman/ godwomen? I do not mind learning from anyone, but i have the intellect to choose and create my own path. All of us are God if you truly believe in the mahavakyas "AHAM BRAHMASMI", bit we do not know our true nature.

I believe that there are gullible people, and there are people to take advantage of these gullible people.
I do not know the path of realization for me, but I am a seeker, and will find it.

Why this fascination with so called godman/ godwomen?
This is the inevitable result of superstitious religious beliefs. You say Aham Brahmasi, everyone is god. This is what these unscrupulous godmen also say. Some of them perform slights of hand and other tricks and the disciples are ready to elevate such charlatans to the status of gods. His every last word take on special meaning, he lives on even after dead and gone, continues to make magic.

An honest reflection will reveal that the problem is religion itself, whatever religion it may be. Whenever one is made to believe that religious doctrine is the ultimate truth, a poison most parents fill their kids up with before they can get to think on their own, the fascination with so called godman/godwomen is unavoidable.

If you truly reject these charlatans, you need to reject the superstition called religion.

Cheers!

Nara, you are bitter.
You can not give up religion as religion is the personal faith. You may reject other's religion as it is not yours.
Knowledge is the only answer.
Do not throw the baby with the bathwater.

Nara, you are bitter..
dear sir, pardon me, I am a very happy person trying to lead a happy life, trying my best to bring happiness to my children and grand kids around me. Talking of religion, there is only bathwater, there is no baby.

Let me ask you sir, can you name one thing, one little thing, that is good, that a person cannot pursue unless he/she adopts a religion?

On the contrary, there is a whole host of hateful stuff that even otherwise good people do, just because they try to be true to their religion.

Once again sir, religion is nothing but dirty water, we will all be better off throwing it away, wholesale.

Cheers!

Nara,
Humbly, I have to disagree. Maybe I misunderstood. One cannot blame religion for these sprout of unscrupulous people. Instead of a tonsure, one cannot chop of the head.

Religion (whatever it maybe) is what reminds us of the path that we have to take. Unscrupulous people who claim themselves as 'God" cheat people to do business and build a profitable self-sustaining empire for their generations.

I am surprised why people who wouldn't reason these.

Nowadays, even my kid has better reasoning power than people who fall for self-proclaimed God or God men.

It is truly sad!!! no wonder - kali kalam muthi vittathu.

To sum it up, we cannot blame religion for one's wrong and meaningless choices and principles in following these 'false' godmen.

If I am blind and walk with a girl who is beautiful to me, who are you to tell me that she is not beautiful. Your understanding of my religion is absolutely ZERO, similarly I know nothing of your understanding of life. The bitterness you feel toward your religion may have to solved by a trained professional.

My values in life are synthesized from my personal life experiences, including parents, schooling, society, teachers, scriptures, and etc.
No religion (in philosophy) preaches hate. People in the name of religion preach hate. You sir according to your comprehension should be able to pick and choose your own personal religion (and faith).

.... You sir according to your comprehension should be able to pick and choose your own personal religion (and faith).
You sir, have no idea who I am or what my life experiences are, yet you generously offer personal advice to me. On the other hand you have simply ignored to even attempt to answer the most pertinent question I posed to you. I shall repeat it below, try to answer it if you can, and leave me to my devices as to what I should be doing.

"Let me ask you sir, can you name one thing, one little thing, that is good, that a person cannot pursue unless he/she adopts a religion?

Dear drb sir, we are in agreement with godmen/godwomen. They amass huge wealth in the name of charity, but keep wealth no common person can even get their heads around, in secret personal possession -- yet they attract adulation from all sorts of people, rich and poor, uneducated and highly educated, ordinary clerk and CM/PM. If we look at what turns all these people into fireflies attracted to fire, we see it is the readiness with which they accept superstitions, a mental condition nurtured by religion.

If religion is akin to the head then I agree it must not be chopped off, but I submit to you sir, religion is not the head, as head is where critical thinking can take place. My considered opinion is, religion is a tumor growing in the head. For healthy life it is imperative that this tumor is surgically removed and thrown away. Once we do this, then, as an incidental side benefit, no godman or godwoman can do their magic tricks and claim to be gods and get away with it.

Cheers!

Someone said "A fool and his money will be separated". If it makes him happy who are we the judge. People bet on horses, casinos, and other places, it is their money and they spend the way they want to.

Dear Shri Nara,

Not all the people who flock to the godmen/godwomen (gm/gw) are fools, as rajprasad brackets all. I believe that as soon as a certain gm/gw is able to attract a certain critical mass of following, a coterie forms around him/her. From then onwards, it is this coterie's business to organize and manage the gm/gw show and the latter becomes a mere puppet dancing to the coterie's set tunes. It is only the outer circle of devotees who are gullible beyond correction.

There is reason to suspect that in most cases of gm/gw this coterie has or develops links with drug-, arms-, building-, real estate-, etc. mafias and it is this linkage which is behind the unbelievably huge amassing of wealth, cash, gold etc., as also patronisation by politicians, aspiring as well as established. In effect the gm/gw becomes a contact and his establishment, a clearing house for various vested interests. And what will normally attract the suspicion of enforcement authorities, becomes a completely blessed congregation beyond any doubt whatsoever.

The two facilities provided by the establishment of the gm/gw (which will usually have more than 5-star comforts) viz., providing a contact point, facilitating financial transactions like a clearing house and ensuring safety from the prying eyes of the law-enforcement authorities, brings a lot of moolah for the coterie (gm/gw) in return. In order to hoodwink the gullible following, some crores will be spent on a hospital with state of the art technology and facilities, then a medical college attached, other educational institutions and so on. The expenditure on setting up these various outfit, which will be an astronomical sum for the common man, is but a small part of the enormous profits of the gm/gw financial empire. The recurring expenses will almost always be generated by these different units and the "empire" spends only on capital outlays. The followers assiduously justify and glorify the gm/gw saying, see how much public benefit is being done by that selfless gm/gw? Only perverted and sinful minds will find any fault with such avataars (and those people will surely be roasted in hell-fire till the end of time).

Since the godman/godwoman business has become somewhat stereo-typed nowadays, we will find more and more entrepreneurial interest in this line, in future too, imho.

The faithful call Him God; the disbelievers may call him cheat, fraud and slanderer who performed magic by slight of hands.

As someone said religion is one's personal belief as much as politics is; with regard to Sai Baba if those that do not believe in him as Reincarnate or God, at least must consider Him for the work He did on this earth. What some governments did not finish in 50 years he accomplished it in 18 months; "A serving IAS officer would give up his job and join him as his clerk; a young IT professional would forgo his fortune, start cleaning the bhajan hall; a businessman heading a billion dollar firm would leave his business and look after one of Baba’s projects. A count of less than 1/6 of the total volunteers (91,753 to be precise) shows this telling break-up — doctors 3,173; engineers 9,760; lawyers/chartered accountants 3,521; professors and teachers 18,226; farmers and workers 41,295; industrialists 11,350; bankers 3,606; judges 71; legislators 167; journalists 261. Any more testimony needed for his charisma, organising skill and leadership? I dont think we can call all these people fools!!

Please read the article by Mr. S. Gurumurthy dedicated to His Mahasamadhi with numbers and specific information.
The Baba and Neo-Mayos

Many millions have had incredible personal experiences that can never be explained by science; but at least let us celebrate his life for what he did for the mankind!!

You jumped in the middle of my conversation with DRB, i do not disagree with your view. I was quoting a saying, I did not call followers of any GM/GW fool. I do not know peoples desire, but it is their money and they should be able to spend the way they like it.

rajprasad,
I agree it is their money. But such misfit actions of theirs is 'wrong' in a society as it validates these gm/gw, and more gullible people fall into. Hence it should be corrected. To put it simple, because I have money and like to drink gallons of liquor and can't reason myself to open a wine shop. Your money, your drink and it should end there. Not harm others.

Nara,
I have been religious, my parents have been too and all my ancestors as well. And my kids and their generations too will be. However, we haven't fallen for these gimmicks. I find great rejoice in going to temples, poojas and stuff. If I need to know more about Bhagavad gita or religion, I would rather resort to books and gather information. Than hear from these people, who monopolize other's money. Hence I think religion is not to be blamed. But these 'fellows' who use religion to amass wealth, do illegal things. Simply put, they don't practice what they preach.

Sengom sir,

sorry I have disagree. I can point you to several noble hearts who have done
great service to mankind. One I just thought is 'Udavum karangal'. They don't claim themselves as another avataar or God or pull poorly configured magic tricks. Does one need to have so much ego to have a city by their name, or put bhagwan in front or run a train by their name? Isn't all this against what is said in gita which they preach to others? This is where I find it hard to digest with gm/gw. If somebody has the charisma, business knack - there are many ways to make money legally and help others. No need to bring religion and misguide people. As an example, Karnataka ex-CM Janardhana Reddy got caught from swindling crores through illegal mining. He donated diamond studded crown worth 40 crores to Tirupati (this is just a peanut money to what he already has). Should I be happy with the crown or worry that he swindled money from poor? Can everyone resort to such practices and throw little peanuts here and there?

At my level I donate money to poor and do little things, that doesn't make me another avataar or God. Among many other things, I am stating this an example - I don't have to learn from somebody that 'we should love others equally'. These are basic human qualities one should possess and most likely are born with. If one is forgetful of that and has to learn that from somebody, then I don't have much to say about them.

Again, these are my humble opinions. Not intended to insult anyone, but trying to have an healthy discussion.
