A ridiculous demand to change the emblem of tamilnadu has been raised by the VCK (Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi) party in the budget session of the state.

It says that the emblem of Tamil Nadu with a temple tower (as above) is not in line with secular traditions of the State and needs to be changed, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi general secretary D. Ravikumar demanded in the Assembly on Thursday. He said "a secular symbol, such as Tiruvalluvar, would more appropriately reflect the culture and inclusive nature of the State. The emblem should also have the catch line ' Pirapokkum ella uyirkum' (meaning all lives are equal at birth)."

Such demands to change our traditional symbols and emblems are minority appeasing and vote mongering - if such demands are not nipped in the bud - the atheist and anti-hindu government of tamilnadu might very well accept the demand.

Thirumavala Adigalar

The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal should first follow what they preach. They have to demonstrate their tolerance for the orthodox and God fearing by building a pucca temple for Ambethkar and Periyar. Brahmins of Tamilnadu will defenitely help them in this cause and will perform the rituals required from Brahman for it. Ambethkar can take Saivaite ritual and Periyar is Vaishnavaite by birth.

They think, our ancient people, society, kingdom are fools. The same people want others sympathy, compassion but they are ready to abuse the majority sentiments like the missionary and mullah.

Dear all...

what the hell is wrong with that Ravikumar guy...
I am really shocked with all this kind of behaviour..why do people in power want to move away from religion and tradition...

I feel the symbol is so beautiful...the temple gopuram and the symbol of Ashoka(the 4 lions) and the national flag..what could be better...

i am so suprised or rather ashamed that people in Tamil Nadu can think like this...

why are they trying to be secular ...do they feel being Hindu is being anti Tamil?

Tell them all to discard their names..tell that guy Ravikumar is a sanskrit name...tell him to change his name if he wants a more secular view of life..

Change his name like what Malcom X did..
These guys dont have the balls to do any thing..all talk only..

Tell them to ask their wives to remove their thali..
tell them the Mangalyam Tantunanena mama jeevan hetuna mantra is Sanskrit..its not secular...

For all you know that Ravikumar guy will be having a mini gopuram in his house itself..

i think indians have been invaded again, and oppressed, despite the aliens having left the land of our forefathers/mothers.

secular is sick-ular.utter garbage, while jews,christians,islam,buddhist,sikhs,jains,..etc are welcome to practice religion as its theri right as indians, why mess around with symbol's or icon's of sanathana dharama.sva-dharmam practice is best for athma vicharanai, and progress of a nation or state in abundance, benevelonce, success.
