My Periappa (father's own elder brother) passed away yesterday.
I understand, we cannot celebrate festivals till varshabdhi.
I want to know whether I can perform Upakarma and Gayathri Japam tomorrow & day-after-tomorrow.
Advice needed from Pandits / Scholars please.

If you are a bachelor there is no ten days theetu. you can perform upakarma and gayathri japam. If you are a married man you are having ten days theetu. and therefore only after 11th day you have to change your poonal. then you may do gayatri japam on any one holiday. Now you have to do sandhyavandhanam and 10 gayathri japam daily for ten days.
