n a case of alleged religious discrimination, a young MBA graduate was declined employment in a diamond export company for being a Muslim, prompting the National Commission for Minorities to seek an explanation from the business house. The alleged incident also drew criticism from the Centre's BJP-led government, which said religious discrimination cannot be allowed.
Abu Asim Azmi, MLA and President of Samajwadi Party (Mumbai / Maharashtra) has condemned the action of Hari Krishna Group who has denied job to a Muslim youth Zeeshan Ali Shaikh who was given a letter in writing that "the company only employees non muslims". This is clearly discrimination on the basis of religion and violation of article 14 and 25. SP demands crimination action against the company and the future course of action will be announced soon.
NCM chairperson Naseem Ahmed said, "We just received a petition this morning and as per our set procedure we will call for the comments of the respondent company and based on their response we will decide our course of action. If there is any truth in this, it is unfortunate. An inquiry should be conducted," he said.
Reacting to the controversy, Minister of state for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "A person's caste, region or religion cannot be a demerit. Discrimination on the basis of religion is neither allowed by our system nor the Constitution. If there has been case in which he (Zeeshan) was denied or fired from the job only on the basis of his religion, then I feel its not right," Naqvi said.

How about those who advertise in Indian papers "Jobs only for Muslims"...Is that fine...Why no one has raised the voice?

A small ticker is running in a news channel. The company employs 50 Muslims. It is better to wait till media madness subsides and facts emerge in social media.

Many orgs advertise and employ only people from their communities. Tweets with pictures are posted now. But the hypocritical media will not publish. The Hindu is also challenged.
This company presented cars and flats to its employees, and arranged a pilgrimage to haridwar with families in special train in 2015.

If the constitution reads:
Minister of state for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "A person's caste, region or religion cannot be a demerit. Discrimination on the basis of religion is neither allowed by our system nor the Constitution.

Then there must be some exceptions. Otherwise these advertisement should be illegal. Why no voice is raised? But two wrongs do not make it right. Secondly the person caught committing the crime is the only one charged.
Vganeji we had this argument in another thread before.
All wrongs should be protested and rectified (that is ideal).

First, why the company in question explicitly mentioned that Muslims are not required. If it is the policy of the company, it could have been done silently. The openness is puzzling.

Generally, closely held companies prefer only like minded people, preferably from the same caste or religion. It is not new. The famous private sector group company is Chennai is an example.
