Panchangam doubt

Hi everyone,
I am Lakshmi narayanan joined only today. I have some doubts in astrology.

There are 2 types of panchangam in tamil (known to me)

• Vakiya panchangam
• Thirukanitha panchangam

Can any one clarify which is correct and that needs to be followed for making a Jathagam for a birth of a baby.

For making jadhakam and predict only triganitha panchangam is accurate and correct, as it goes with degrees. and vakya panchangam goes with star.

Notwithstanding the opinion of Shri Gopalan, I feel you can make a horoscope on the basis of either Panchaangam. But there may be some differences in the two horoscopes. Mark each horoscope clearly with the basis on which it was cast, so that at a future date there will be no confusion, especially if you believe in horoscope matching before marriage. Record the particular type of Panchangam also because most of our Panchangams are "abaddha panchaangams"!

Drik Ganita means according to actual observation (drishTi=sight) and estimation (gaNita=calculated) whereas vaakya means formula and refer to the rate of movement of planets, raahu & ketu etc., as given in our ancient treatises on astronomy/astrology.

Sometimes, predictions come trrue on the basis of Vaakya horoscope.
