A paksha is fortnightly occuring spell commencing from அமாவாஸ்யை to 14th day, including the new moon ie அமாவாஸ்யை. Likewise, the second paksha of the fortnightly spell commencing from பௌர்ணமி to 14th day, including the full moon ie பௌர்ணமி. Thus two weeks of fourteen days in each phase/spell constitute two pakshas viz, sukla+krsshna totalling 28 days ie 4weeks periods/duration of less than 30 days ie, two days less for 30 days representative of one month.
Now this is as far as the paksham is concerned/related. Each day of the two pakshams, daily a specific கோலம் symbol is drawn, thus 28 kolams for the entire paksha, spread for the entire duration/period.
This is to be confirmed by any one who could throw light on the subject, with reference to the accepted practice&following,as per the customary tradition or any other convention or
belief.
