Pakistan to use US weapons against India, not jihadists: Pak ex-diplomat

The nearly USD one billion worth of attack helicopters, missiles and other defense equipment being sold to Pakistan by the US will end up being used in the fight against India instead of being deployed against jihadists, according to a former Pakistani diplomat. Pakistan’s former Ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani said the Obama administration’s decision to sell US-made attack helicopters, missiles and other equipment to Pakistan will “fuel conflict in South Asia without fulfilling the objective of helping the country fight Islamist extremists.”


“Pakistan’s failure to tackle its jihadist challenge is not the result of a lack of arms but reflects an absence of will. Unless Pakistan changes its worldview, American weapons will end up being used to fight or menace India and perceived domestic enemies instead of being deployed against jihadists,” Haqqani wrote in the Wall Street Journal in the piece titled ‘Why Are We Sending This Attack Helicopter to Pakistan’.

And freedom loving, upright, honest USA will close their eyes and do nothing. Will threaten tanso cut supply of spares, but will supply full gear. And this eternal behaviour is new news to some .......

All developed countries wants to keep their weapons selling continue.. so they get money for the government. Rest does not matter! There is very little chance of direct war between nations anymore.. all will be through proxy only.

Attack helicopters and missiles can not be useful to inflict the hundred cuts in Kashmir to bleed India. So it is just show pieces which will depreciate and go out of use in course of time. It is small arms that matter for the jihadist who fight the proxy war with India in the jungles of Kashmir and get killed regularly.

So let US give any number of attack helicopters and missiles to Pakistan. India need not be unduly perturbed by this as long as it maintains its current superiority in terms of numbers and equipments.

Let Pakistan pledge everything it has to get all these toys to show to its people back home and go bankrupt. We can just enjoy watching the tamasha.

Weapons have to be bought from somewhere isnt it?

So Pakistan is getting it from the US..whats the big deal here?

Why does anyone have to get worked up what their neighbours buy? if one's own defense is solid..what is there to fear even if the neighbour gets the Brahmaastra!
