India and Pakistan

Long term solution. Peace and cooperation. That should be made clear to Pakistan. No emotional outbursts in an open way. That said the backbone of terrorism has to be broken as Modi says. That is the responsibility of India to its citizens. Short term solution should not endanger long term goals of peace.

This is complex because of potential unseen actors involved.

Context is important. Current relations with Pak is far from good. So talking of long term peace should proceed in an adept and gradual way.

Short term solutions should be based on reason and evidence. It is necessary not to involve the notion of clash of religions. If possible unifying ideas like God is one can be used.

It should be projected as a fight between peace and disruption of peace. Better to avoid naming the nation and especially religion.

Let's avoid unnecessary words that can escalate the situation and conduct actions based on only logic and evidence.

If possible if any genuine concerns of Pakistan needs to be considered without any ego.

Let long term peace prevail and that always be subtly indicated which will the abate the effects of necessary short term actions taken.

The right thing about what is India doing is it is responding and not initiating the conflict. Of course one may argue Pakistan has its own reasons in trying to start a conflict. Whatever may be the reason, killing of innocent people cannot be justified. It is an act of terror.

An act of terror has to be responded to but as I said in my previous post that reason has to be made clear to Pakistan. Pulling down the country or religion totally is emotional than based on reason. The best approach is to convey that Pakistan has done an act of terror and we are responding to it and not say something like Pakistan is terroristan or a rogue nation thus tainting the whole nation .

Every nation has plus and minus. Acknowledge what is good about them. One has to be both firm and empathetic so that one is not taken for a ride and also one does not miss the nice and finer aspects of others. The time of adversity is the time and an opportunity to display not only your external strength but also your wisdom and inner strength.

Humans by nature respond to reason and what is reasonable. If they dont something is wrong. The birth of terror itself is because one or the other is immune to reason. The present times is an age of irrationality, selfishness and emotions. That too has to be taken into account.

I would sum up saying that as you should not taint a person totally for his acts but condemn and respond to the acts, one should not taint a group whether religion, nation or race as the good qualities that are definitely lurking underneath can be brought out. Respond to the act but simultaneously convey that war is not a long term solution but only peace is which will in turn will convey your mental restraint bound to be received well.

You have the right to respond to physical force by physical means when you are not in the wrong. Do not initiate physical force otherwise. Understand what the reason of physical attack is and try to address it and with peace as the long term goal.

For mental attack best response is by wisdom and inner strength.

I was quite suprised thats its still a popular tourist destination despite the risks in the area.

I read about one Hindu survivor who knew Arabic and had studied Islamic matters..so he recited the Kalimah at gun point and the terrorist didnt shoot him thinking he was a muslim.

The terrorist didnt expect a Hindu to know the Kalimah and assumed the person was a Muslim.

I just hope the terrorists wont devise new ways to determine a persons religion.

I find the recent attack a bit weird.
Usually the terrorist give a damn and shoot even women and kids.
Here they were only killing the males.
One Hindu women whose husband was killed begged the terrorist to shoot her too but the terrorist didnt shoot her.

I wonder why they decided to spare women and kids.

Dear Renuka

Terrorism is a response to state intransigence and immunity to reason. I am not saying the means of creating terror is right but one needs to understand the rationale to tackle it.

Ofcourse there is terrorism that is created by state itself as an indirect way to achieve their objectives.

In the former it is the state at fault and in the latter the terror exporter is at least. In both the cases terror happens because reason does not work.

If everyone is fair and reasonable the chances of terrorism happening will come down considerably.

hi
i agreed...this time kinda against govt in central....kids and women spared....very rare....

Had women and children been killed too there would not be any witness to the brutality! With them being spared the political messaging of the terror was achieved!
