Hello,

I belong to Yajurveda. On the day of Amavasya Tarpanam, what all things we should observe:

1. Is Amavasya Tarpanam as good as performing Shraddham?

2. Food - what kind of food is allowed?

3. Should we change our poonal after performing the Tarpanam?

4. In an unforseen circumstance, can one perform the Tarpanam in the evening?

Thanks,
Rajiv Iyer

1.Unless you are a patient like diabetese its preferred to be on empty stomach. It as good as shradham but no food is given to priest. First perform Sandya, Madhyanikam then tharpanam. After tharpansm Brahma yagnam. Poonal change is not mandatory. Avoid foods containing onion, garlic etc & no rice in night. These are traditions not written anywhere. Tharpsnam before 1 pm.
