The incidence that occurred about Madurai/Theni is highly disturbing and disgusting. In India sometimes the killing becomes an instinct giving lie to the universal phrase ‘survival of the fittest’. May good sense prevail there in the affected circles (Vattams or Maavattam). All lofty ideals and morals are built on human life only and hence, it cannot be sacrificed nor would it (the killing) redeem the values.
Caste war resulted in the killing, as reported by the press, which again is not an excuse. Be that as it may, the vague reporting, for whatever reasons, puts one particular community (wittingly or unwittingly) always in the wrong light. When the news reporting is not specific, the general public invariably tend to think, the caste-war is between Brahmins and non-Brahmins. The most maligned community, the so called Brahmins, have even been giving up their only weapon, ‘Darbai’. It is the responsibility of our Forums to request the responsible newspapers/magazines to be either specific or at least mention within brackets “(not Brahmins)” in such matters so that the much maligned community need not accumulate more abuses than the earth can bear.:yell:
