A Tamil Brahmin lady (State Executive Committee member of the All Kerala Brahmins Association -AKBA) is the Muslim League's nominee candidate in the ensuing Panchayati Raj elections.

She is contesting as the Muslim league nominee in the United Democratic Front in the Karamana ward (predominantly Tamil Brahmin) of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.

The newspapers have described this (as also another Christian and a Scheduled caste women candidates in two other wards of this Corporation, as the Muslim League's candidates) as a sign of the secular attitude of the Muslim League here in Kerala.

I feel this is a move to be welcomed, whatever might be the causes which gave rise to it. But I thought it useful to inform our members and assess their views also.

In politics everything happens.There are many incident where congress woman is marxist candidate and vice versa.

One of the reason is lack of availability of women candidate (also presentable candidate)
Many of the women candidates do not know their power (after getting elected) and will be puppets in the hand of backseat drivers.
Educated/dedicated women has to come forward and get elected. Then let them be anybody`s candidate - They will work for the ward/panchayat/municipality
