Narendra Modi sanctions nearly Rs 940 crore assistance for flood-hit Tamil Nadu

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today instructed the immediate release of financial assistance of nearly Rs 940 crore to deal with the flood situation in rain- battered Tamil Nadu, hours after Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa wrote to him for funds to sustain relief work.

What was requested by JJ as immediate Flood Relief Fund was only Rs.2000 crore

And this Rs.8,481 crore seems to be for temporary as well as permanent restoration of infrastructure

It is not yet reported about the value of damage/loss caused to State by the Committee which surveyed the State's flood hit areas.

When Flood ravaged Assam, and when Chief Minister Tarun Gogai sought for 500 crore, GOI was able to sanction only 207 crore

As you may be aware that sanction of Flood Relief Fund is determined taking into consideration of various factors.
