Music singer SPB donates to Kanchi Mutt

Legendary Singer, SP Balasubramaniam is in Nellore the other day. He came to the city to handover his house in Thipparajuvari Street to Sree Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji of Kanchi Matham. A religious man, Balu had decided to give away his house to establish a Sanskrit and Veda Patashala.

While one can appreciate SPB's fine gesture, is it true that of late, Telugus are dominating Kanchi Mutt, since the current Seer is from Telegu background?

Let it be. Our Tamil Brahmin community is decimated by 50 years of so called dravidian suppression, only Andhra and Karnataka are upholding some sastra and sumpradhaaya.

hi

generally kannada/tamil /telugu brahmins are dominating in kanchi mutt....similarly i think sringeri younger

seer also telugu.....so telugu /kannada brahmins are more in both mutts...

Oye!!! Does it really make a difference who is supporting the mutt?
Why use the word dominating!!
Dominating denotes some force and its not fair to use it when anyone comes forward to support a mutt.

This is totally being so communal to say this community or that community supports...just appreciate the kind gesture of SPB.

If no one supports the mutt, then all start lamenting.." aiyo ..aiyo bhagawane! Kali yuga! No one helping"

Then some will cry by saying agraharams are being taken over by muslims with middle east money etc but when a Hindu donates his ancestral home to Kanchi mutt..why complain that Telugus are dominating etc?
Crazy! Where is the ummah( brotherhood) feeling?? At least try to have some sense of brotherhood.

I think our acharyal can be from anywhere in India. Many people from Kasi (U.P) and Gaya (Bihar) and from some other states used to be Final authorities and even Pareeksha Adhikari. Biggest Seat was at Kasi with lots of learned pandits who used to patronise the Kasi Mutt which was final seat. Now after some time, the north south divide happened and most of the Veda books which was mass printed in Kasi, stopped printing. In south, there was only one grantha printing press at Kumbakonam which also later closed down. One press which was run by the order of Maharaja of Mysore was also closed down due to poor patronage. Now, as you say, The Leader can be from anywhere, only he should unite us and lead in the path of knowledge.

The act of humble singer SPB is to be appreciated. Telugu/Tamil/Kannada not a matter at all. Please all unite to appreciate and encourage the good things. thanks

Brahmin community was decimated. Actually, there is no unity. KN and AP are not being ruled by Brahmins. The Brahmin population both in Karnataka and AP is not much. From 12% it is 2-3% in Karnataka.

The livelihood of Carnatic Musicians is primarily in Tamil Nadu only. The musicians from Palghat are popular only because they are in TN. Most of the Carnatic Musicians from Palghat were given Padma awards. This year Bombay Sisters got it.

Does it really matter. if Telugus are dominating Kanchi Mutt ?

Yes.

My family follows Kanchi Mutt.

The serious criticism against Kanchi Mutt is that it doesn't give importance to Tamil. Tamil is treated as 'Neecha Bashai'. The current Seer was in a controversy recently while attending a program organised by H Raja. The allegation was that he has not given respect to Tamizh Thai Vashthu.

isn't a seer supposed to have samadarshinah? Why have different views on languages?
