The Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the Sabarimala temple gold theft, told a Kerala court that more gold was looted from the temple. In the custody application submitted before the Vigilance court, SIT said there was more gold looted from the temple than the initial findings.
Seven gold-clad copper plates, apart from the earlier Dwarapalaka idols and door frame, were stolen in a similar manner. These seven include a Shiva idol and Dasharadha plates, SIT told the court.
According to findings by SIT, the gold was extracted using a chemical mixture at Smart Creations in Chennai, owned by the ninth accused, Pankaj Bhandari, and is in the possession of him and Govardhan Roddam of Roddam Jewellers in Karnataka.
SIT also filed a custody application for further questioning of the prime accused, Unnikrishnan Potty, the ninth accused, Pankaj Bhandari, and the tenth accused, Govardhan.
Earlier, on November 26, SIT took into custody A. Padmakumar, former Sabarimala Executive Committee President and CPM Pathanamthitta District Committee member, in connection with the case.
Unnikrishnan Potti, the prime accused, was reportedly taken into custody by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on October 17.
