Meaning of "Shali"

Hi everyone,

I recently had a dream in which I was advised by the Diety to donate "Pooja Items" including "Shali". On enquiring from the same Diety in the same dream, I was told that it is a Pooja Item used by Tamils.

Could anyone help me by telling what "Shali" is ?

shali - means cold. But this could not be the case.
