Hello Sir,
I have a question of dates of masikams and oona masikams which need to be performed during first year.

My father died on Chathurthi thithi which is on September 22nd Night 11:30pm this year.

Now according to chathurthi thithi masikams fall on Sept. 29th. Now the Priest says he will perform on OCT 2nd.

My question is how do i check online if what he says is correct. Can he perform on Some other thithi?

Hello,
I did not quite understand what you were trying to say.
The priest says that it is not neccessary we need to do in the same thithi.
He also says Nakshatra also matters. So within 5 days of the thithi we need
to check good nakshatra. What is your view?

Sir, What you have mentioned above is not correct. you have written died on chathurthy thithi on september 22 night this year. sapthami thithi is there on 22 nd sept. How can same chathurthy thithi can come within one week. it is impossible. you have written 29th sept is chathurthy thithy . it is also wrong. Kindly give correct information. If your father died on 4th september it is chathurthy thithi after full moon.

now after full moon 4th october is chathurthy thithi and 27th oona masikam you can do on 2nd october. only for oona masikam 5 days can be adjusted . details are there in in thius forum itself in Rituals, ceremonies and poojas in sticky thread antheyesty, anthim karyams. 7 pages are there . details are there. feel free to ask for doubts.with regards.

I am extremely sorry, It is not on Sept. 22nd But he died on Jul 22nd. On 22nd July Night 11:30pm. So it is chathurthi thithi.
The priest says since the nakshatra does not match properly on Sept. 29th. He will do on 2nd Oct. How can i find out if it is oona masikam or maasikam.

Please tell me if nakshatra also needs to be seen in addition to the thithi.

I am extremely Sorry about the dates.

My father died on JULY 22ND 2012, night 11:30pm. The Thithi is chathurthi according to priest.
Now, One of the masikams falls on Sept. 29th being chathurthi.
Now, Priest says that Not only thithi is important, but he needs to take care of nakshatra also.
So, he says that we need to do on OCT 2nd instead of Sept. 29.

I am confused. Please advise me. How can i be sure that priest is saying is correct.

Also, How to tell if Sept. 29th is a oona masikam or maasikam.
Is there any way on the internet to find when maasikams and oona maasikams fall for the Death on 22nd July.

Now one of the masikam had come on 19th vinayaka chathurthy day.. Then how can another chathurthy come within ten days. Another chathurthy thithi masikam falls on 18-10-2012; next one comes on 17-11-2012; next masikam on 16-12-2012; next one comes on 15-1-2013; next one comes on 13-2-2013; next comes on 15-3-2013; next masikam on14-4-2013 and so on.

On vinayaka chathurthy day you have done one masikam. Now the oona masikam comes from the 40th 45 th day. that is from 29th september to 2nd october. as per oona masikam rules , onna masikam should not be done on chathurdasi, pornami and prathamai thithi days. so your priest have informed you that 2nd october which is correct.

oonaq masikam should not be done on prathamai; shasty; chathurdasi; amavasai; fridays; and on krithigai; aayilyam. kettai; pooram; pooraadam. poorattadhi; star days; and on the thithis of dwithiyai; dwadasi, sapthami, the stars krithigai, punarvasu, uthiram, vishagam, uthraadam, pooratadhi comes and also it happens to be of saturday, sunday, tuesday then oona masikam should not be done.

Rules are there like this. what your priest says is correct.
