There are different views expressed in different forums regarding mahalaya tharpanam.
I would like to know details regarding the following.

Is it correct to do tharpana on father's/mother's thithi?

what is the meaning/ significance of the following?

mahabharani

maha viyadhi padam

madhyaashtami

avidhavanavani

sanyasytha mahalayam

gajachayaai

sastragadha mahalayam
