[h=1]LG is making a hexagonal battery for better battery efficiency in Round Smartwatches[/h] June 30, 2015 Kishore Ganesh Leave a comment Edit
Smartwatches aren’t really known for their stellar battery life, and it is upto OEMs to squeeze out as much battery life as possible. LG apparently has noticed that round smartwatches waste a lot of space accommodating the battery. This means that round smartwatches get less battery life than their square-counterparts.
Now, LG has developed an hexagonal battery that it claims uses much more screen real-estate than rectangular batteries. This can enable more denser batteries to be packed into smaller spaces, ending in better battery life for the end consumer.
LG will probably go with its hexagonal battery for future smartwatches, and we may see ones offering long battery lives soon.
What do you think? Is a Smartwatch worth it?
