Recently our Chittappa passed away. My brother is unmarried i.e. defined as Brahmachari as per shastras but he is above 50 years. He was told that he is not required to do Kuzhi Tharpanam. My thinking is that irrespective of married or bachelor or widower, kuzhi tharpanam can be performed as father is not alive since it is related to paternal lineage i.e. dayaadhi or pangali. Can any learned person throw some light or reason please.
