These are historical as well mytholical. The discription of the astronomical events of the time corroborates the events and mythologically these stories are passed on from generation to generations to help us to imbibe the values. Please try to see the
events through the Indian eyes rather than through foreign eyes as they may have vested interests.

In my opinion, a matter of faith does not require scientific proof. For ages, we have listened to our great epics and believed the characters to be true. In this age, unless everything is scientifically validated people don't accept it. This happens more so in the case of Hindus. The present day Muslim did not see Prophet Mohammed existing 1300 years ago but has no problems accepting him. It is a sacrilege to even consider a opposite opinion. Same with a Christian who may not question JC. Even the non-believers don't go to the extent of making fun of JC or Allah or the Prophet. In Hinduism, even Hindus question the authenticity of Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas or the Itihasas. Someone would say we Hindus are free thinking, liberated and scientifically inquisitive and so on so we question. But to what extent? Only a scientific validation would do? What is the guarantee that Science is not making a mistake. I remember reading an interesting news about a popular mineral water brand in the UAE. This water is extracted naturally from the mountains here and there is an instrument which gives a kind of signal if the impurities in the water exceeds a certain level. The water that is extracted is so pure that the instrument remains silent all the time. From time to time, just to make sure the instrument is working properly, the plant runs it through unclean water.

It is just like the Saraswati river was considered to be mythical until satellite images threw up the dried river bed. There are numerous sthla puranas validating the events of Ramayana and Mahabharata and we cannot just dismiss them as figments of imagination. If they are imagination, then the ancients' imagination is really so wide and huge to weave the kind of stories.

No scientific validation is required for Rama & Krishna. It is a matter of faith. We don't claim that both the avatars took place in Kaliyuga. When we ourselves accept, the avatars didn't take place in the current yuga, there is no need to prove to anybody on this.

Even during Ramasethu controversy, the Government of India accepted the mistake of its origional filing in the Supreme Court and withdrew the entire statement.

If other religions claim 2000 years history, we can claim infinite history, since till today no body is able to prove when Hindu way of life started first.

If Lord Krishna has not delivered Bhagavath Geetha then let the scientific thinkers come out and tell who else has delivered. It is upto them to prove and we don't have to prove anything.

During Ramasethu controversy, Tamilnadu CM Karunanidhi claimed that Lord Rama is a alcoholic. There are two points in the above statement.

Point Nne - Lord Rama existed which even Karunanidhi is accepting. There is no two opinion about it.

Point No. Two - Whether Lord Rama is a teetoteller or not. Difference of opinion exists between most of us and Mr.Karunanidhi only on this point. One thing Mr. Karunanidhi is not questioning , weather Lord Rama was loyal only to Seetha Devi. Mr.Karunanidhi cannot raise this point because he himself is practicing polygamy.

So conveniently he skipped the above point and raised the point of alcohol consumption. Personally I have no knowledge of food habits during Lord Rama's period. To the best of my knowledge, Kamba Ramayan doesn't talk about alcohol throughout the full text. If I remember correct, Mr.Karunanidhi quoted from Valmiki Ramayana only. Can anybody enlighten us whether there is any truth in Mr.Karunanidhi's statement? Personally my faith in Lord Rama will not go down even if he has consumed alcoholic liquors.

Last but not least, Mr.Karunanidhi only lifted prohibition and introduced liquor in Tamilnadu after independence.

When it comes to commenting on scriptures, MK has no authority to do so as his only intention is just to wound the feelings of the Hindus. One cannot find a parallel in any other country - a ruler insulting the feelings of his subjects with inflammatory speeches and that too systematically against a particular religion. MK has this habit of coming up with "fabulous" comments every now and then. I would just laugh this guy off because நாய் வாலை நிமிர்த்த முடியாது.

Everybody knows that Mr.Karunanidhi could not be changed or corrected particularly at this age. But just by accusing Lord Rama, he is accepting that Lord Rama existed.

Even C N Annadurai made the slogan Onre kulam, Oruvane Devan which is nothing but a couplet from Thirumoolar's Thirumandiram.

Dravidian movement people will our religion for their own convenience.

jesus is just over 2000 years old and there are people who question his existence based on historical evidence of that time period.

rama and krishna were far more ancient. sure historical evidence is far more difficult to get. just bcoz evidence is absent or tuf to get, its not possible to say they did not exist. there certainly are some evidences, like the sunken dwaraka city.

btw, no matter what karunanidhi says for political benefit, we don't know if he is actually worshipping krishna and rama in private !

its an open secret that many of these kazhagam cranks are not atheists, just super manipulators.

They offer Ramayana Tourist Package.

It means they accept that Lord Rama existed.
