All through childhood till the time I got married, I and my mom did kanu togehter but would keep our Kanu pidis in separate turmeric leaves side by side on separate kolams also side by side. I have done the same way for many years after marriage with my daughter.
Today was the first time my in-laws came during Kanu. My mother-in-law says that she, me and my daughter are supposed to keep Kanu pidi on a single leaf all together.
What is the correct way of keeping Kanu pidi and what is the significance behind doing so?
