Jayalalithaa income tax case: departmental proceedings withdrawn

The departmental proceedings against former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and her close associate Sasikala in four Income Tax cases came to an end with the department passing the final order on the compounding fee paid by them.

The cases relate to non-filing of income tax returns. A Magistrate Court, where criminal proceedings were pending against them, was on Thursday informed of the departmental order.
