An inquiry commission headed by a retired judge of Madras high court will probe the circumstances leading to death of Jayalalithaa
Jayalalithaa's residence at Poes Garden will be converted into a memorial

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday announced that his government will set up an inquiry commission headed by a retired judge of Madras high court to probe into the circumstances leading to the death of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa. Her residence at Poes Garden will also be converted into a memorial, he said.
Announcing the decision in a hurriedly convened press meet at the Secretariat, Palaniswami said the retired judge would be named soon. "Action will be taken in a timely manner," he said, on the terms and tenure of the inquiry panel. The chief minister clarified that based on the requests from various quarters and the public, the state government announced it after thoroughly considering the issue.

Palaniswami said the former chief minister had brought glory to the state with her effective functioning. "Puratchi thalaivi Amma was hospitalized due to illness. She passed away on December 5, not responding to treatment. There were several reports in the media from various organizations and sections," the CM said, detailing the necessity to set up a probe panel. It is one of the primary demands of the O Panneerselvam faction for initiating merger talks.
Jayalalithaa was CM for six terms and sacrificed her life for Tamil Nadu. She toiled day and night for the state's growth and welfare and as a noble leader, she remained in the hearts of everyone, Palaniswami said. "There are several requests from various quarters that her residence be converted into a memorial. To enlighten the public about her caliber, her achievements and sacrifices, her house will be converted into a memorial for the public to pay their respects," he said.

Excellent decision by Edappadi..Will lead to the merger of the EPS, OPS factions...This will help the unified AIADMK to retrieve the two leaves symbol...Is the Mannargudi gang completely sidelined? Will they wriggle out a compromise with the unified AIADMK? Let us wait & watch the unfolding drama!

This may be a ploy by EPS faction to make peace with OPS camp. The attempt at merger with OPS will increase the divide between the party and the govt.Normally the

persons controlling the party apparatus will get the upper hand if it leads to new elections.TN is in for troubled times including Presidents rule.

Only BJP gains in this scenario.

This should have been done much before. But its better late than never.
