Italians Can Officially Watch Porn During Their Lunch Breaks In Office

October 16, 2015

Italy's highest court, the Court of Cassation, has ruled that an employee can't be fired for watching porn during work. That is, if it doesn't compromise productivity, the Independent reported.

This was the ruling the court passed against car maker Fiat after it fired a Sicilian factory worker for watching porn. The man argued that he was only “catching a glimpse of a movie during his lunch break”. The man, who the media has identified as Guiseppe Z, has fought Fiat for five years, after a local court approved him getting fired. Once a Palermo court overturned this decision, Fiat went to Italy's highest authority. They lost, according to an Italian edition of The Local, because Fiat couldn't present evidence that the man was watching porn during working hours.

But in another ruling, the court declared that Fiat could fire a man for smoking weed during work - because weed gets you high, and thus unproductive.
