At times a high IQ can actually be a drawback.
When studies comes easily for a high IQ person he or she might actually never give the motivational aspect a thought.
A good student hardly needs to be motivated by anyone or even by their own self cos he/she has high IQ that can make sitting for exams and scoring high just a simple task.
At times a high IQ person is so organized and meticulous that he/she actually plans everything without realizing that this actually makes him or her work within their "own" set of rules and when faced with working environment where he/she has to work outside of their own rules they might not be able to cope.
So some might not really rise fully to the top and not even reach their full potential which is as actually a waste cos they could have contributed much more if they were motivated enough to work outside of their own rules.
College education only gives us a degree but does not teach us how to face the working world/
Even in MBBS all we get from college is a degree but no one taught us doctors how to face stress..how to face demanding patients...how to work with 0 level sleep..how to face nasty consultants.
So I feel to a great extent stressing on academic excellence is totally insufficient...the syllabus needs to include 'working environment' as a subject.
