insensitive tamil nadu Administration

n a recent sting operation, by a private TV channel, it has been found that the AIADMK Ministers of Tamilnadu, are getting 27,000 litres of potable / drinking water free every day, as their bungalows in Greenways Road, do not get piped water from the Chennai Corporation.
The moment the Metro Water Tankers get a telephone call, they divert their 9000 litres tankers to the minister's houses, once in the morning, once in the afternoon and once in the evening, thereby depriving the Tamilnadu tax payers of their legitimate requirements.
Today, a private tanker supplies about 6000 to 9000 litres of water, charging anything between Rs. 8000-10,000 per tanker, and that too at their convenience.
No one knows how pure the private tanker water supply is, and whether it is potable or not.
It just satisfies the requirement of water.
When the whole of Tamilnadu, is suffering for want of water, and the regular reservoirs have dried up (Poondi, Red Hills, Sholavram, etc.) how can these Ministers of Tamilnadu spend so much water so lavishly, making their needs to about 27,000 liters per day?
And that too at the cost of the legitimate tax payer?
"According to official sources, the total water demand in the city is 950 million litres per day (MLD), whereas the supply is 750 MLD, including 200 MLD from private tankers. That leaves a dangerous deficit of 200 MLD, and activists say the deficit is even higher."

You are right. The drinkable quality of tanker water is less than reliable. It is India wide problem and no one is addressing it.
Chennai is one of the worst sufferers.
It does not surprise me or anyone else that ministers are getting these perks. But compared to the bigger problem of drinking water shortage, these perks are small potatoes.
We must concentrate on the bigger issue of drinking water shortage.
The minister's diverting water to their residence is small corruption compared to their thousands of crores corruptions. I am surprised that you are worried about minor corruption or perks.

when there is acute water scarcity in chennai/tamil nadu the heartless ministers without any trace of humanity, selfishly usurping the water thereby showing utter carelessness to the voters who have elected them is much worser a corruption than what you are referring, in my opinion.

Fair point ! But why not protest against giving 30000 cr to a failed businessmen ?

Isn't it heartless that this money could have gone to the poor who are sleeping on the roads al over india and dying ?

Different standards for different dispensations ?

good.there are multiple scams and corruptions. no doubt
but should they keep hands in water too ignoring the poor who stand hours together and wait for tanker thanking their stars.....

Sir,

You may agree that a Minister is also a citizen…

He has also got a family to be taken care of be him

These are all certain privileges, Ministers enjoy in a Government...he is a VVIP

Of course, it is we, the public, who elected him based on the promises, ideology, principles, etc after due application of our mind.

Now, we have no option except to watch and move on.

There is a Tamil Proverb: தனக்கு மிஞ்சித்தான் தானமும் தர்மமும்

It is self care that comes first … and Ministers are not exception to this!!
