Dear Manohar Sir,
Some Indians are very smart thieves! In the dollar shops I visited in Boston, I noticed this kind of theft. There is a bar code
which, when not checked, will beep and show that something which is not billed yet is going out of the shop. I found that many
zip-lock packets which were kept at the rear row of the store were opened and a few covers taken away! In the same way,
if four items were packed in a toilet kit, one or two were missing from each kit! What a way to steal without getting caught!!
In some super markets, nuts are kept in big jars with a dispenser. The buyers are supposed to fill up the plastic bag kept
nearby, measure and mark the weight of the nuts taken, tie it up and go for billing. The weight is not checked unless there is
some doubt. They trust people. An Iyer mAmA was busy taking all the varieties of nuts in his hands and munching them! May
be he was not given a break fast at home! I told my son that the weight of such persons should be checked while entering the
shop and leaving the shop to find out how many pounds of nuts they have eaten up to add in their bill....
