Palghar (Maharashtra): A young housewife allegedly committed suicide in the district as her husband forced her to eat non-vegetarian food, police said today.
Sub-inspector S B Kamble of Nala Sopara police station identified the deceased woman as Pooja Lukam (22). Her husband Dharmesh Lukam (26) often forced her to cook non-vegetarian food and to eat it against her wishes, Kamble said.
Fed up, the woman hanged herself from the ceiling of the house yesterday.
Police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against the husband, he said.
