Happy Birthday Dilip Kumar Sir who turns 92 today
Muhammad Yusuf Khan better known as Dilip Kumar celebrates his 92nd birthday today. Born on December 11, 1922 in Peshawar, Pakistan (Erstwhile India) he made his B-Town debut as an actor in the 1944 film Jwar Bhata. The movie may not have done great at the box office but it gave birth to one of the best actors if Indian cinema. The actor was in hospital recently due to pneumonia, but has recovered and will be celebrating his birthday at his Bandra residence. His mind blowing portrayal of the common man who is engulfed in the tragedies of life, earned him many awards and the best among them was the title of ‘Tragedy King‘. His films have always had great music and here are a few of his most memorable songs.
Dil Tadap Tadap Ke (Madhumati):
This song sung by Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar on Salil Chowdhury’s composition, is from the 1958 film Madhumati and is super melodious. This film, starring Dilip Kumar, Vyjayanthimala, Johnny Walker and Pran won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi that year. Also that film was India’s official entry to the 31st Academy Awards (Oscars)
