The analysis of urine samples of 400 Gir cows done at the Food Testing Laboratory has shown traces of gold ranging from 3 mg to 10 mg from one liter urine.After four years of research, scientists at Junagadh Agricultural University claim to have found gold in the urine of Gir cows.

Scientists claim that the analysis of urine samples of 400 Gir cows done at the Food Testing Laboratory shows traces of gold ranging from 3 mg to 10 mg from one liter urine. The precious metal was found in ionic form which is the gold salts that are soluble in water.
"We've been researching on cows for the last 4 years. As scriptures describe, we tested the samples on Kapil Plasma Unit and the range of gold as 3 to 10 milligrams per litre. It has been repeatedly tested and the gold has been isolated, precipitated and melted," Scientist Dr BA Golakia said.
"The urine contains 5100 compounds, out of which 388 have medicinal properties. Range of gold varies according to the age and feed it has consumed. Morning cow samples have better gold content than evening. Calves have maximum content of gold," Dr Golakia added.

Who would think that Indian who harvest the fallen hair and make a living out of it would waste so much money in the cow's urine - considering the number of cows and the amount of urine they produce?
Now it is time to investigate whether the grass in the Gir forest is also laced with gold!
