Gaya Shradham

Can someone please give information on performing pitru shradham at Gaya? Is there any vadhiar whom we can contact so he can help in telling the procedure, number of days, accommodation, budget...etc

I have already given all details. first you have to go rameshwaram, then prayag raj, then kasi and then gaya. then once again to rameswaram. for these vadhyar dhakshinai will be around rupees 25 thousand plus to and fro charges plus boarding and lodging. nagarathar sangam is a good place for boarding and lodging. shankar mutt vadhyar are good and cheap. you have to do theertha sraththam at rameswaram and allahabad, ,kasi, and at gaya. 9x5 cotton dhoties 10 nos; saree nine yards with blouse, thirumangalyam, , comb, mirror, manjal, kungumam, silver metti , 4 nos, and sowbhagya items.

There are several methods to do Gaya Srardham. The one Mr. Gopalan mentioned is the srardham people do as part of their Kasi Yathra. For this, you start from Rameshwaram and proceed to Kasi, Allahabad, Gaya and back to Rameshwaram.

You can also do just srardham for the ancestors at Gaya. Gaya is considered purest place and hence the best place to do srardham for ones parents/ancestors. I know several people who has a habit of doing their annual srardham at Gaya periodically. For this, you don't need to go to Rameshwaram and/or Kasi.

I did as part of my Kasi Yathra and the vadhyar who did all the rituals at Kasi took care of my Gaya trip also. I believe there are several Mutt's in Gaya and you can stay there and go to Vishnu padam to do the srardham. The vadhyar/priest at the Mutt will be able to take care of the arrangements.

They will mak all the arrangements, including picking you up from the Railway Station.
Ofcourse, the srardham will be done for a group and they will guide you to do it properly. The charges are reasonable. You may please enquire and proceed.

A few things to add: The so called "Rameswaram " leg is actually Dhanushkodi trip. The sea sand is collected from the sea at Dhanushkodi. Three mounds are made and after immersing two mounds at Dhanushkodi, only one is carried to Prayag. The rest of the Rameswaram trip is purely a pilgrimage, taking bath in the various wells and having darshan of Lord Ramanathar. Regarding the Kashi leg, we stayed at Kanchi Mutt where the two brothers -Shri Subramanyam and Shri Chandrashekar-manage the show, apart from their other businesses. There are actually two wings in the Mutt where accomodation is provided. The older one is having only the very basic facilities. Try for accomodation in the new wing, which is better. Shri Subramanyam arranged for conducting all the rituals at Prayag ( we reached Kashi first and then went to Prayag as it is more convenient and safe), Kashi as well as in Gaya. Transportation was also provided by him. Food is provided by a Mami in the Mutt premises itself. In Gaya, accomodation is provided in the Kanchi Mutt. There was an elderly gentleman - I think he was Mr Panchapakesan-in 2014 who was managing it. The Mutt organises everything including the two Hiranya Sraddhams and one Parvana (Homa) sraddham. The Pundit is Shri Jois from Karnataka who speaks very good Tamil. I do not know the present arrangement.

Maha vishnu HIMSELF did tapas in Varanasi and Manikarnika ghat came. Vishnu finally decided to offer HIS eyes to Kasi Vishwanath. Did Vishnu said not to go to Kashi ? Human beings spoiling the minds of human beings ?

இப்போதும் காசியில் வருடத்திற்கு ஒரு நாள் விஷ்ணு சிவனுக்கு துளசியினாலும், சிவன் விஷ்ணுவிற்கு வில்வத்தாலும் பூஜை செய்கிறார் என் பழக்கம் உள்ளது. ஆனால் இங்கு விஷ்ணு கோவில் பட்டரிடம் வில்வம் கொடுத்தால் அதை மஹா விஷ்ணுவிற்கு பூஜை செய்ய மறுக்கிறார்கள்.
