Difference between different words to describe a sloka

Not open for further replies.
Hi all,

I am new to this forum and look forward to reading plenty of posts.

I have a basic question regarding slokas here. I have come across many terms which likely mean the same thing - slokam, mantra, chant, invocation. However I want to know if there is any subtle difference.

In short I want to know the difference between slokam, mantra, chant, invocation and any other similar words.
