Chetan Bhagat has written a piece in a daily commenting on ‘Hindu Rashtra'

Chetan Bhagat, the popular fiction writer, has penned a piece in The Times of India titled, ‘Why a prosperous, harmonious Hindu Rashtra is an impossibility’.

The piece is interesting because it shows the kind of misunderstanding even a fairly non-Hinduphobic writer has about the idea of a Hindu Rashtra.

At the very outset, Bhagat pits "most Indians" who understand "India’s pluralism, secularism and democratic credentials" against "a fair percentage of the population that likes the concept of a Hindu Rashtra”. This sets the tone for the whole op-ed.

India is now an Anti-Hindu country. I hope shri Bhagat doesn't think that, that is the reason for India's rising prosperity. Hindus will be satisfied if they have a government which removes the anti-hindu bias in the constitution and laws, and give hindus same rights as the muslims, Christians and other non-hindus.
