Kamal Hassan, a bogus rationalist (actually a vaishnavite fanatic) is suddenly very active in Tamil Nadu Politics. Who is going to hear his half baked statements? He doesn't have mass appeal like Rajni or even Ajith and Vijay.

Let us allow him to bark and we enjoy his tamasha.

[h=1]T Nagar MLA cornered in park during morning walk[/h]Chennai: T Nagar MLA B Sathyanarayanan was in for an unpleasant surprise when he entered Jeeva Park for a morning walk on Monday. More than 25 fellow walkers gathered around the legislator and fired a barrage of questions at him for joining hands with acting AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala. The MLA, who was caught on camera saying he enjoyed his stay at the Golden Bay resort in Koovathur, was at a loss for words and left immediately after the crowd was done venting at him.

"It was a heated argument that went on for half-an-hour," said one of the walkers who did not want her identity to be revealed. "When they wanted our votes, they came to our doorstep, so why didn't they consult us before choosing sides? None of us want a Sasikala-run government. We are really upset and angry, so as soon as we saw him, we confronted him."

‘Boneless’ Kamal hits back at ‘rude’ Swamy

Chennai: They live less than 3km from each other in Chennai. But that gap is threatening to get as tense as 3km on either side of the border of two hostile nations.

Matinee idol Kamal Haasan and Subramanian Swamy continued to engage in a proxy war on social networking service Twitter on Monday, with the BJP Rajya Sabha MP saying he would oppose any move by Haasan to enter politics and lead the people of Tamil Nadu.

The two have been taking potshots at each other amid a flurry of tweets on recent political developments in Tamil Nadu.

Swamy's tweet on Monday was in reply to a question from a user who asked him if the BJP would welcome Kamal to lead Tamil Nadu if that was the wish of the people.
………………….

Kamal on February 18 tweeted a link to a speech by former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju: "Ppl. who hide behind constitution while they hide explosive truths will only implode e.g. su..samy."

What is undesirable in tamilnadu?

First brahmins not getting recognition .Dalits at receiving end of caste violence from intermediates.

Climate change issues -with a vast coastline Varda type cyclones, bad weather and climate change issues.

Unemployment [Those who are not engineers, MBAs have nowhere to go] on a large scale

Modis plan of start up and skilling does not have much impact .

A bad trend after the demise of JJ is attempt by the saffron brigade to push hindutva agenda and meddle in TN politics thru governor. He interfered in intra party

dispute of AIADMK playing favourites and setting OPS against sasikala. Even RSS was given permission to organise drills in chennai by OPS group. This can only lead to

violence with muslim and christians. So far there is religeous amity in tamilnadu. It might become like kannur in kerala.

Tamilnadu in addition to subsidies and freebies can start large scale employment of rural unemployed to reduce migration to cities.

what is undesirable in tamilnadu?

1)First brahmins not getting recognition .Dalits at receiving end of caste violence from intermediates. And brahmins just do not care whether they are recognized or not by the dravidian governments.

Brahmins get recognition where it matters.
Dalits are getting organized. The middle caste suzerenity is going to be contained soon.

2)Climate change issues -with a vast coastline Varda type cyclones, bad weather and climate change issues.

These are natural calamities. Nothing special for Tamilnadu. Just like Andhra and Orissa we too suffer when there is nature's fury.

3)Unemployment [Those who are not engineers, MBAs have nowhere to go] on a large scale.

This is universal today. Nothing exclusive to Tamilnadu.

4)Modis plan of start up and skilling does not have much impact .

It depends to a large extent on innate enterprising nature of the population.

5)A bad trend after the demise of JJ is attempt by the saffron brigade to push hindutva agenda and meddle in TN politics thru governor. He interfered in intra party dispute of AIADMK playing favourites and setting OPS against sasikala.

Sasikala and the gang was a mafia gang. They deserve what they are getting.

6)Even RSS was given permission to organise drills in chennai by OPS group. This can only lead to violence with muslim and christians. So far there is religeous amity in tamilnadu. It might become like kannur in kerala.

RSS has been having its shakhas all over Tamilnadu since long. When I was a schoolm going boy I have seen RSS shakhas being run. And they do not need permission to run these shakas in private grounds. The story of Kannur is different. There CPM cadres are eroded and they are concerned. That is the reason for violence. Muslims or christians need not bother if they mind their business without monkeying with other faiths.

7)Tamilnadu in addition to subsidies and freebies can start large scale employment of rural unemployed to reduce migration to cities.

If large scale corruption is checked Tamilnadu can double its growth in a year. Getting a birth/death certificate, getting a property sale registered, getting a water connection, getting electricity connection, opening a gate into the street in which your plot has road frontage, getting a ration card, opening a shop for trading, selling vegetable in the street on a push cart, getting admission into kindergarten or medical college/engineering college, getting old age pension, getting ambulance to your door step, getting free treatment in Govt hospital, getting the dead body for funeral(in case you happen to die in the Govt hospital), to drive your vehicle without getting stopped on the road and everything you can imagine requires a bribe to be paid in Tamilnadu today. The list will run to pages if all are to be listed.

There is no denial of discrimination. Some highly educated brahmins can find non govt employment and recognition there. What happens to less educated ,poor brahmins

who are bearing the brunt of perverse reservation policy. Dalits can hardly combat the violence being let loose on them by the intermediates. Many of them are

converting to other religions to escape persecution.

2.One cannot dismiss saying all states with a coastline are facing climate change. There can be affirmative action to shift industries, education institutes, govt offices to other locations within tamilnadu not on the coast line.

3.Unemployment issue has solutions. Nothing prevents the govt from utilsing the unskilled or partially skilled for gainful employment. It requires will from govt. Instead

giving only doles which makes everyone only further useless, why not get some work done in return for money doled out. Does it make sense to give Rs 20000 to

girls/women to buy vehicles? The govt is making lower 50% population into beggars by giving doles.

4.Constitution does not give any right to governor to judge someone to be considered mafia and denied the right to form govt.Law courts decide that. The governors actions

were dubious. The central govt played dirty for political reasons.

5. RSS was kept on a tight leash both by JJ and MK .They were hardly making inroads into tamilnadu. Now they are vociferous and taking to the streets. The saffron

party is openly giving soundbites preaching to tamils toeing the line of central govt.We will see the after effects in days to come.

6.The question on rural employment is not answered.
Instead , issue of corruption is raised. Transparency is the key to reduction in corruption.

Much of govt work is being done online in many states including tamilnadu. When there is fight for scarce resources like medical seats/schools entrance exams with

computerisaed evaluation is the key.Reduction of discretion helps. This is a national issue. One can still get anything done if one is determined not to promote corruption.

Excerpts........

My answers in blue.....

There is no denial of discrimination. Some highly educated brahmins can find non govt employment and recognition there. What happens to less educated ,poor brahmins

What is your point here….? You mean to say that less educated Brahmins have no future…?
This is highly ridiculous….

There is Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission which recruits candidates based on Educational qualifications like Group I, Group II, Group III and Group IV.
And there is Uniform Service Recruitment Board which recruits candidates for Police, Fire Service, and the like
Likewise there are umpteen number of other sources both in private and public sector and there is no dearth for employment for people with merit.
And for less educated, there is scope for unskilled work. Opportunities are there and it requires iron will and perseverance.

who are bearing the brunt of perverse reservation policy. Dalits can hardly combat the violence being let loose on them by the intermediates. Many of them are

converting to other religions to escape persecution.

Does it happen only in Tamil Nadu….. Do you have any idea about other States…..?

2.One cannot dismiss saying all states with a coastline are facing climate change. There can be affirmative action to shift industries, education institutes, govt offices to other locations within tamilnadu not on the coast line.

Having a coast line is in fact an advantage except for the natural calamities which can very well be tackled by efficient prepared exercises.

Can you say honestly that the Delhi Government does not have any such schemes where most of the Government money is thrown into ….....

4.Constitution does not give any right to governor to judge someone to be considered mafia and denied the right to form govt.Law courts decide that. The governors actions

Now the there is a petition filed and it is pending in the Court.

You absolutely seems to have no idea about RSS and Hindu Munnani in Tamil Nadu

In Tamil Nadu not less than 12 Office bearers were assaulted, injured, and some even killed ruthlessly in day light. This is the status of RSS/Hindu Munnani in Tamil Nadu. There may be bomb blast too.

You seems to have forgotten the history conveniently.

6.The question on rural employment is not answered.

Schemes : Centrally Sponsored Schemes : Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS)
1. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS)Pl. click here for GOI Guidelines
Pl. click here for all G.Os
The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was launched on 02.02.2006. It guarantees 100 days of employment in a financial year to any rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act is an important step towards the realization of the "right to work". The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) framed under the Act is the only anti-poverty programme which has legal backing.

The core objective of this scheme, as per the revised schedule-I of the MGNREG Act, are;

  • Providing not less than one hundred days of unskilled manual work as a guaranteed employment in a financial year to every household in rural areas as per demand, resulting in creation of productive assets of prescribed quality and durability;
  • Strengthening the livelihood resource base of the poor;
  • Proactively ensuring social inclusion;
  • Strengthening of Panchayat Raj institutions.

In Tamil Nadu, the scheme was first notified on 2.2.2006 in 6 districts of the State and the scheme was extended to all the remaining districts, in a phased manner as per the table provided below:
Table 1.1

Action replay!

the then speaker PH Pandiyan, who always claimed that Speakers had ‘sky-high powers’ and the first presiding officer to invoke the provisions of the anti-defection law, first disqualified ten DMK MLAs for allegedly burning the copies of the Constitution declaring Hindi as the official language of the country. Senior DMK leader and its legislature party leader K Anbazhagan was one among those disqualified. In the afternoon on January 27, even before voting started, Pandiyan disqualified 29 MLAs of Jayalalithaa faction on the plea that they did not obey the party whip. Clashes erupted in the house and probably for the first time in the legislative history of the country, police was summoned inside the house to arrest the MLAs, who were creating ‘trouble’. Later he announced that Janaki had won the trust vote with 98 MLAs supporting her. However, the then governor Khurana sent a report to the Centre on the happenings inside the house. Subsequently two days later, President’s rule was imposed in the state for the third time in the state, previous ones being 1976 and 1980.

Now it is 'No-Confidence Motion' against the Speaker who is reportedly vested with 'Sky-high' powers

DMK writesto Assembly Secretary seeking No-Confidence Motion against Speaker

CHENNAI: The opposition DMK today submitted a letter to Tamil Nadu Assembly Secretary AMP Jamaludeen for a No-Confidence Motion against Speaker P Dhanapal. The DMK's move came a day after party Working President and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly MK Stalin said his party will move a No-Confidence Motion against the Speaker in the backdrop of the February 18 trust vote which Chief Minister E K Palaniswami won with a 122-11 margin.

"We have given a letter to the Assembly Secretary for bringing a No-Confidence Motion against Speaker Dhanapal," Stalin told reporters at the Secretariat here.

A copy of the letter has been submitted to the Speaker as well, he said.

"During the session on February 18, the Speaker acted with ulterior motives. On that basis, given that there is no confidence on him, we have submitted the letter seeking a No-Confidence Motion against him," he said.

Stalin had yesterday said DMK would move a No-Confidence Motion against Dhanapal, accusing him of "deliberately harping on his community to malign" the opposition party.

His statement had come in response to Dhanapal's charge on Saturday after the confidence vote faced by Palanisamy that he was perhaps targeted by the DMK during the ruckus for hailing from a particular community.

"When we see that the Speaker is deliberately harping on his community to maligns us,it is very regrettable. It is a matter of shame, according to us, for Tamil Nadu," Stalin had said.

"Therefore,we will move a No-Confidence Motion (against Dhanapal). Signatures of 34 of our MLAs are enough for that and the (Assembly) rules mandate that it (motion)should be taken up within 15 days," he had said.

The DMK has 89 MLAs in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly.

On Saturday, amidst chaotic scenes involving the DMK which eventually led to eviction of its members enmasse, the Palaniswami government won the trust vote by the huge margin.

It is not about building a castle in the sky…it is about all of us (VIPs) who are responsible for electing our representatives ….. coming together..... and hold them responsible for their actions/drama/tamasha.

Tamil Nadu's political drama: It's time for us to shed our VIP (vai illada praani) status

Let us seize the moment and shun our VIP (vaai illada praani) status quo

After the lights have been switched off and the laughter has subsided, reality must dawn. I have this sneaking suspicion that Kalki* may have come to Tamil Nadu, taken one look at events and fled, if not earlier then certainly after Sasikala's spanking act on Wednesday.
Think about it. How many times in the past weeks have we thought and said around us that even god cannot save us? It crossed my mind many times including when O Panneerselvam said he had communicated with J. Jayalalithas's spirit.

How did a state with its high levels of literacy and which up until a decade ago had social indicators envied by its neighbours and heralded by the world slide into such depravity, sloth and stupidity?

J. Jayalalithaa is no more. Her friend and comrade Sasikala is in prison, but the charade continues. Floor tests, numbers, theories, Delhi TV studio 'expertise', cars rushing up and down give burlesque and absurdity new definition.

Let us be clear about one thing. There are no saints and saviours in politics. But there are levels of sanity and responsibility we can impose and this is perhaps the most precious tool that democracy is constantly testing, honing and remodelling. When lawmakers turn to spirits and ghosts, our alertness must deepen.

The drama in Chennai had all the indications of a rambunctious democracy on the move. There was people’s power, mobilisation of views, engagement of Tamil society across platforms and people, peaceful protests and in most cases, stellar camaraderie and competition between reporters and somewhere in all this, a clear articulation of what the electorate expects from its leaders.

I was particularly struck by one tweet from actor Arvind Swami who succinctly summed us up when he asked how often do we hold our elected representatives responsible for their actions?

Responsibility has no sides. Irrespective of political affiliations, it is a commitment politicians make to get elected. It is our job to hold them to their word. Democracy also places responsibilities on we the people. If we want to live in a free land, we have to treasure and safeguard our freedom. There's no free lunch in life.

....................

I hope we can convert our democratic maturing to show the door to venal politicians and their courtiers. I hope we can cut to chase the next time we get an opportunity to do so.

Anti-diluvian waters could not drown Chennai’s resolve in 2015, neither could nature's fury more recently during cyclone Vardha. Think of what we achieved when we held together in times of physical distress.

We are now in a state of political distress and ethical decay. Go on Tamil Nadu, you can do it. You can make brave the new normal. Madras did.

*Hindus believe that Kalki is the tenth avatar (dasavatar or incarnation) of Lord Vishnu expected to appear in the times we live in which is Kaliyuga (epoch) - a period of great decay and depravity and unexpected upheavals. His appearance is said to lead to Satya Yuga which roughly translates into a period of truth. Yuga or periods are epochal.
