My mother Nela masigam on 11th August Pournami day, on that Avani avittam, Raksha bandan, Onam festival. My doubt is can we do that day Monthly masigam on festival day. If not when we can do Nela masigam. My mother passed away on Chitra Pounami April 16th. Please advise me. Thsmks. KRISHNAMOORTHY, 9440744713

You can re arrange the date day of OONA-MASIKAM & SODHA-KUMBAM before hand only, in the SUKLAPAKSHAM itself. For that you have 5 days that is 6th to 11th.
Your problem is solved?

1. It is good if the day to be performed is selected properly.
2. If good events take place in the house, the oonams can be done after Akarshana(?).
3. But it should not be redone after the good event.

1. Within day or two from the Oona day, Oona Masika has to be performed.
2. [This is true for Unaapthikam also.
3. The first oonam should be performed within 3 days of the 27th day of death.
4. The tripakshikam should be performed within 5 days of the 40th day.
5. The oona shan Masika has to be performed within ten days of the 170th day.
6. The oona apthika has to be performed within 15 days of the 340th day. ]
7. Oona masikams have to be performed on odd days .
