OMG! Indian traditions and beliefs are luckily different!

[h=1]China sees disturbing rise in ghost marriages as men marry stolen corpses[/h]
This tradition dates back to the belief that it is inauspicious for men to die unmarried.

In a series of bizarre incidents, the bodies of dead women in China are being stolen from their graves and are sold to single men as ghost brides for marriage, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Police officials said corpses of more than two dozen women have been stolen so far. In some superstitious parts of China, people steal dead bodies of women and sell them off to single men in exchange of money.
This tradition dates back to the belief that it is inauspicious for men to die unmarried. This belief is being taken too seriously in China where people search for dead brides for their sons and friends.
People dig out female corpses from the graves and support them with the help of metal wires. They are then dressed up properly as a bride and are laid next to the body of unmarried men while burying them.
Police confirm that there is an alarming increase in the number of stolen corpses of women, adding that, it becomes difficult for the relatives of the dead to keep a track of their relatives.
This tradition of corpse brides was banned in the year 1949 by Mao Zedong, the leader of the People's Republic of China from 1949 to 1976.
Guo Qiwen, a victim of this horrific tradition, said that he had been looking for his dead mother which was stolen last year. Since then Qiwen had been spending a lot of money to get her back, but is unsuccessful.
"I have spent more than 50,000 yuan looking for her remains. It kills my heart not having her back," said Qiwen.
In 2011, a man was arrested for murdering his wife and later trying to sell her body as a corpse bride.
Chinese law rules that stealing corpses is a punishable offence and can land the culprit in jail for a term of up to 3 years.
