Remarkable memory and analytical capabilities of the crow! Have you ever noticed that if you put food to a crow, does the same crow come at designated time!
Hindus and crows are closely associated as we give the offering of food to Pitrus and crows are served first...
Of course, many ancient Indian folk tales formed the basis for Aesop’s fables, one of which tells the story about the crow and the pitcher. A desperately thirsty crow figured out that if he dropped enough pebbles into the long-necked pitcher, he could raise the water level high enough to allow him to drink.
Researchers are now trying to validate that the crows canmake and use tools, conspire together by conveying information to other crows, and remember things like locations where people shot at them years before. They can even remember your face and tell other crows who you are.
Don’t annoy a crow - it will remember you—and you don’t want that.
Now scientists claim that crows are about as smart as a seven-year-old kid, in certain contexts. See here: http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0092895
Sir,
While we train pet parrots to call names and words, we train ourselves by crowing at 'mottai maadi' to pick up the food offered to these birds on the days of ceremony.
Besides, one has to see the unity exhibited by these birds on seeing a dead crow.
There are things that one need to learn from birds/animals.
