An English language teacher at the Government Higher Secondary School in Nilakottai died last November.
However, the Education Department sent a letter to her home deputing the teacher as one of the supervisors for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam at Government Higher Secondary School in Pattiveeranpatti in March.
When the principal of Pattiveeranpatti HSS informed the department that one out of nine supervisors deputed for his school did not attend duty in the morning, department officials rang up the teacher’s number; they even shouted at the person at the receiving end and asked him to hand over the phone to the teacher immediately.
Highly puzzled, a relative told the official that the teacher died in November. Feeling embarrassed, the official expressed regret and disconnected the call. The story does not end there. After four days, the teacher’s relatives received another letter, directing the deceased to attend paper correction work.
Once again, her relatives contacted the office of the CEO and narrated the entire episode to the officials. The officials, who cancelled the order, stated that the teacher’s death was recorded in the service register and other records in November itself, but was not removed from the list in computer.

Sometimes, these type, of situation would happen.
The mistake is that of the Head of the institution.
The Head Master of the HSS should have written letters to the The Tahsildar/ Election Officer who is looking after the work allotment and also to the DEO (endorsing a copy of the letter to CEO) about the untimely demise of the teaching staff.
The omission in duty on the part of the HM could have caused these embarrassing situations.
