How is this retirement home in Coimbatore? Please post ypur experience and impressions. Or nothing you have heard about the place.

I need immediate feedback because am thin of booking cottage there.

I am also looking at Tapovan Senior Citizen Foundation.

Has any one heard of this place? This is more like a Resort or Retreat. On the face of it looks good.

Melur Meadows - Retirement Village


Melur Meadows, Near Mettupalayam. They have a Naturopathy Clinic also. Lyaa Wellness.

Dear Sir,

Last month, our friends (husband and wife) bought a cottage in Tapovan @ 50 lakhs; monthly payment for food +domestic help.

They are happy with the sAtvic food and environment. Better if you go in person and finalize.

Our Bombay friends have gone to Kausthubham which has a tie up with VAnaprasthA to enable the residents listen to music

and discourses together. I have not asked about the initial payment.

That was beautiful, very resonable price about 43lacks in 2008.

I have visited a few retirement homes in CBE. I found Nana Nani homes Phase I near Tondamuthur to be the best foodwise, staywise and securitywise.

Now Retiremnet Communities could be classified as:


Senior Independent Living:


Independent living communities consist of homes, condominiums and apartments where residents maintain an independent lifestyle.


For Seniors who are able to continue living at home but need some help.




Congregate Care Retirement Community:



A congregate care facility combines private living quarters with centralized dining services, shared living spaces, and access to social and recreational activities . Many congregate care facilities offer transportation services, personal care services, rehabilitative services, spiritual programs, and other support services.


For Seniors in good health who want both independence and companionship.



Assisted Living & Senior Living:


Senior assisted housing combines lodging and various personal support services, such as meals, housekeeping, laundry, and shopping. Assisted living benefits seniors who need regular help with daily activities but do not need nursing home care. Other names for assisted living facilities include "board and care homes", "personal care homes" and "supervised care facilities"

For Seniors who may need help with bathing, dressing, medication, etc

We have been living "Senior Independent living" for the past 12 years.


Now we want to move to a "Congregate Care Retirement Community."

I have visited a few retirement homes in CBE. I found Nana Nani homes Phase I near Tondamuthur to be the best foodwise, staywise and securitywise.

In Nana-Nani, not all the start-up promises are fulfilled, and when I visited last (to see my uncle there), emergency medical arrangements were still not made (it may have changed now). There were other issues as well, which loom up only when one is resident there.

The food is good, the place serene, and the decor is eye-catchy; independent one bedroom houses are provided.

One has to do a a check with the residents to get an understanding of realities, in any such homes.
