During my employment in PSU, the Associations of notified communities have interfered at all levels. Recently, I met my ex-colleague who is still working and enquired about the present status of Company.

It is distressing to note the Associations have further tightened their screw
in all day-to-day activities. A GM post was filled, even though two DGMs are available for selection - both belong to two different notified communities. Since the CMD, who is a NB, wanted to have a broadbased selection called applicants from outside also, apart from the above two. Finally a Brahmin was selected. The Secretary, who attaches to the earlier GM on account of seniority, is also a Brahmin.

One of the Associations protested that two Brahmins should not work at the same place and the Secretary was transferred. A junior was posted per Association's wish, who is an active member of rival union. The purpose is to watch his movement.

It is extremely sad to note the notified Associations are actively involved
in the daily activities, which do not come under their purview. Apart from
this, abusing of Brahmins becomes a regular feature. One member went to
the extent of saying no more Brahmin appointments.

My colleague was overtaken by a junior at least by three years, on account of caste and roaster policy. As a result, he becomes a junior by similar number of years.

Since recruitment and promotion are made based on the basis of reservation policy and roaster system, as per rules and regulations, the Government may think in terms banning the caste based Associations in PSU to have unity among employees.

Otherwise, Brahmins and other Forward Castes form their own Association to safeguard their interests, for it becomes extremely untenable for them to work in PSU anymore.

I found Backward class associations /notified tribe associations being active in an academic institution like IIT too and poking their nose in all the appointments...Wonder where we are going at times?
