The movie, written and directed by Hari Shanker, is all set to be released on June 23.

Allu Arjuna starrer ‘Duvvada Jagannatham’, an upcoming Telugu movie, has ruffled feathers in the Telugu states with the All India Brahmin Federation, a casteist organization, finding some of the words and lyrics in the movie demeaning to their sthotrams.

The movie, written and directed by Hari Shanker, is all set to be released on June 23.

Dronam Raju Sreenivas Rao, President of the All India Brahmin Federation, has expressed his anger over “unnecessary usage” of words from holy rudra sthotram. Rao said that Brahmins’ sentiments have been hurt the same way several times
in the past, and that now songs are also being written to hurt them. Rao was referring to a song written by Telugu lyricist Ch. Sree Rama Chandra Murthy.

Rao also accused the song writer for using Lord Shiva’s recital in a romantic song, which he says is offensive. Dronam Raju said, “These days, filmmakers are showing the Brahmin community in a very negative and poor light. In DJ, they have taken the words from Lord Shiva’s recital Namakam Chamakam, and made a pun on it. We will not tolerate this.”

A complaint has been filed against the movie with the film certification board by the Brahmin organization.

This film is Arjun’s second project this year, after Sarainodu which released earlier to much fanfare. The movie is being produced by Dil Raju, starring Pooja Hegde as the female lead, while the music is being directed by Devi Sri Prasad.
Earlier, Brahmin organizations had tried to stage protests against Manchu Vishnu’s ”Denikaina Ready”, stating that some parts of the movie were offensive to them.
