If we take India's population to be about 800 million , this amount of money that is hidden in Swiss Banks is equivalent to over 1 lakh Rupees to every man, woman and child in India.
I am not sure why AAP never talked about this level of corruption.
There has to be explicit action on Switzerland and with Swiss Banks since they are promoting illegal activities of corrupt people across the world.
India seems to lead corrption activities at both small levels and big levels...
if you consider what is black money , it is just the money on which taxes are not paid . it also includes some got thru corrupt means like kickbacks .
When taxes are unreasonable even the middleclass with white money , resort to generation of black money to pay for transactions .How many ask for receipts for groceries in kirana shops .?
some affluents and politicians with big money transactions park it abroad in some banks to be brought back to india if necessary
why this hue and cry? definitely the black economy is far bigger than white . in fact govt is dealing with a small proportion of national wealth .
on one hand we cry of less governance and need for easy availabilty with less govt interference.
. on the other hand shout when people in parallel economy provide it promptly for a price evading /avoiding taxes .
If govt comes with a good tax regime say 5 to 10 percent with voluntory declarations , most can come back thru legitable channels . otherwise good old hawala is there for movement of money . money will always move where it is attractive for it to go.
without parallel economy india cannot exist . if we depend on govt we can only suffer

I give a simple solution to this problem.
1) Government should pardon all the black money holders if they give 50% of this money as tax and the same can be transferred to World Bank as against the loan taken by government by which we can get rid of our loan totally.
2) In addition government can put one more condition that 25% of the total money should be invested in India for industrial development and balance 25% can be used by them as and what they please.
Who will do it? No Government including BJP or AAP. AAP will die premature death since they are only problem finders and not Solution providers

no one will accept your conditions
Amnesties have been tried in the past with minor response .
Unless the govt charges a nominal amount . no one repatriate .
govt can make agreements with foreign govt for access to accounts held by indians abroad . I do not expect much to come out of it
money simply runs away from safe havens if investigated .
we will continue with this
unless people see some advantage , they will continue with the present system
solution is transparency in govt dealings and minimum governance
this is not achievable in practice
