spring lamb campaign full of deities feasting on meat and making religious jokes has been condemned by Hindu and Anglican representatives as insensitive and disrespectful.

Created by the Monkeys, the television commercial plays on the idea that anyone can enjoy lamb no matter their background, religious beliefs or dietary requirements and was designed to be playful but not offensive.

The Hindu Council of Australia called for the ad to be banned, saying it was a “crude and deplorable attempt by Meat and Livestock Australia to use images of Ganesha to promote lamb consumption”.

Balesh Dhankhar, a spokesman for the Hindu Council of Australia, said the ad had angered a large number of Hindus in Australia.

It is a tasteless ad. Australians are bunch of brutes and their humor can only be enjoyed by them.

Whoaa...this is bad.
Why drag in Lord Ganesh?
Even if one does not see Him as a deity...at least since He has an elephant head..any logical brain knows an elephant is a herbivor.

I just saw the add...it doesnt show Ganesh eating lamb but just joining Zeus..Jesus..Moses..Nordic and Greek Gods..etc..Buddhist monk.
Scientologist and a woman who is neutral on religion but receives a phone call from a person called Muhammad.

So..I am sure Muslims too are going to get angry.

But the add focusses on the fact that Lamb can be eaten by all religions...they didnt cater to vegans or vegetarians.

Add is done in a non offensive manner..but it is religiously insensitive cos the humor is misplaced.

Jesus too is teased here in this add.
