In a significant move that will save the lives of millions of animals, the practice of sacrifice has been banned at Nepal's Gandhimai festivel, the world's biggest animal sacrifice event held every five years.

The temple trust announced its decision on Tuesday and urged all devotees not to bring animals to the festival, a religious practice that had been continuing for the last 300 years.

The Chairman of the Trust, Ram Chandra Shah, said in a statement.

The decision has been welcomed by animal right activists who have been campaigning against the practice.

Every day 3 or 4 lorries each packed with a minimum of 50 animals (mostly old cows - adimaadu) are transported to Kerala via Kanyakumari District. Everybody knows that they are sent for slaughtering.

In Kanyaumari District BJP is having foot hold. Minister Pon Radhakrishnan hails from Nagercoil.

No effort seems to be taken by any social activists.

Yes, Yesmohan Sir! Humans kill animals with prayer or without prayer!

Madam, then it is agreed that both Animal sacrifice slaughtering animals are more or less the same except the places of incidence.
