One advantage of having a person with very high ego as a PM is that he/she is less likely to be subservient . I think Jayalalitha is one such person and if she can learn when to control her ego I think she will be a good candidate for the PM post.

For this reason already she had ordered for 48 (willing) elephants to be taken care of for a mandalam as suggested by Malayala Mathrigar for becoming PM. after devegowda became PM with support of 17 MPS others have developed ambitions.J leads a casteist party of dravidians and brahmins have not forgotten what she did with sankara mutthead. her support for temples and welfare measures such annadanam in temples can get her some support. she having an iyengar tag alone may not attract the brahmin vote. It is a wild guess. How can Jayalalitha be more effective than MMS? MMS’ party (Congress), on its own, has 205 MPs in the current Lok Sabha. Despite this and being an acclaimed Economist, MMS is being taken to task by one and all. Each and every day, Congress has to depend on its coalition parties. It will become eighth wonder if Jayalalitha is able to manage the affairs with 40 MPs (assume she wins all seats) without any problem / corruption free for five years.

A vibrant democracy requires a strong opposition leader acceptable throughout the country. At present, we don’t have one. Therefore, Indians have no alternative but to elect Congress once again. Otherwise, we will have to go in for regional leaders like VP Singh, HD Deve Gowda, IK Gujral, with no clear vision, but to occupy only the PM seat.

Every one tasted Jayalalitha’s regime between 1991-96. Many have lost faith in democracy at that time.

There is a saying: “KNOWN DEVIL IS BETTER THAN UNKNOWN ANGEL (MAY BE A DEMON IN THE FORM OF ANGEL)”.

As regards Jayalalitha’s Brahmin tag, is Iyer and Iyengar one and the same? Frankly, it is not so. Iyengar population is less than 0.75% of total Tamil Nadu population. Unfortunately, for a long time, Tamil Brahmins have not produced a good political leader. We had one viz., P Ramamurthy; but he was a Communist.

she is the toughest politician in india today. not scared of anyone. and everyone including DMK are scared of her. you dont see anyone talking of her, like they do of MK. and surviving to tell it to their grand children. universally agreed...she is TOUGH!!

Kunjappu Sir - I think tough is not tough. But pliable is tough. One thing is true DMK cadres have hardened her. Like Frank Moraes said: When the rock is dislodged the worms come to light. But MK is tougher than even Indira Gandhi in spite of so many of his own people pulling him down, children, wives, etc. etc. IG defied the world and MK defied IG. Above all we TBs could not do any thing to him. He is a veteran of many battles, foolish or otherwise. JJ has only MK against her.

She will be tough untill the thevars and Gounders of TN decide that they need a new face to show to the ordi nary man. When that day comes they may plumb for Kamalhaasan(he is making the right noices to position himself in the right slot now) or some other filmy personality and dump our tough politician. You can afford to be tough when you have the solid unwavering support of the majority communities who have come together to share power and pelf(the spoils of power). The real power in TN is wielded by who-people know this. LOL. Some power and some toughness!!

She may look obstinate in her chosen opinions, perhaps that is her strength. If she manages to get more than 35 seats in Tamil Nadu, she can bargain for PM's seat. We have seen Mr H D Deve Gowda elected as PM with much less number of seats in Parliament.
The recent elections to Delhi Assembly has shown any thing can happen in Indian Elections.

If she aligns with modi after elections with 25-30 seats she could become Dy PM . Becoming PM might be a long shot incase a third front of regional parties coming to power and she being a consensus choice
