I fail to understand why we give so much importance to the U.S wanting to reach out to Modi. The U.S has only its self interests on mind and not the welfare of the rest of the world. And rightfully so. So it should be with India. The right thing for India to have done when the U.S, unilaterally and in the absence of any Court decision or results of any investigation, went ahead and revoked his U.S visa - is to have protested vehemently against the U.S action. Our politicians however saw an opportunity, and rather than protest, went ahead with a memorandum signed by a number of lawmakers urging the U.s to continue the boycott. Now our media and the public are waiting with eager anticipation for the U.S to grant him a visa! And the U.S wants him to apply for a visa and await the results of the process like any other person. What for? Whatever he needs to accomplish in foreign relations, diplomacy and trade with the U.S, Modi can do without setting foot in that country. Let the U.S for a change, make amends. Let them introspect, and then rescind the revocation of his visa thereby restoring it back to him. This would be the right and honorable thing to do.
