All Navagraha sthalas are in Siva temples- astrology is a planetary science. Iyengars hate the idea of Siva as a God..so how come they believe in astrology...hypocrisy??!!!

I know of one exception. We have a separate 'navgraha peetam' in our paschim Balaji's (Dombivli East). Times are changing perhaps.

Your answer lies in your question.
Navagrahas are planets in the sky - affecting the entire population of the world.
Just because they are put in the temple of Siva they do not affect / protect only the Saivites!
Alternately it my be to make the people who refuse to accept Siva as a God, accept him - at least to escape the ill effects of the nine planets!

Maybe you should ask " All shiva temples are built on the earth. So how do Iyengars live on this earth?"

Iyengars don't 'hate' Siva. Sri Vaishnavas amoung the Iyengars and NBs undergo 'saranagathy' to Sriman Narayanan and don't go to any other temple. By the way, as you may have noticed, NBs also included in this. But not all the Iyengars are Sri Vaishnavas. I grew up in an Iyengar home. They were not Sri Vaishnavas. But that doesn't stop the next generation becoming Sri Vaishnavas from the same family. Again, not all the Sri Vaishnavas are too serious about Saranagathy either.

Navagraha sannadhi is also available in Santhana Srinivasa perumal temple at Mogappair. Since Peruamal is a Kakkum kadavul Perumal protect us from all the ill effects of navagrahas and navagrahas are part of viswaroopam of perumal there is no need for navagrahas in perumal temple (told by some)

Now we can take it that Nachi Sir says Sri Parameshwara preethyarththam, Srimannarayana Preethyarththam, Sri Ganesha Preethyarththam, Sri Subrahmanya preethyarththam, Maha kaali preethyarththam, Ravi preethyarththam, Soma preethyarththam, brahaspathi preethyarththam, buthan preethyarththam, Sri sukra preethyarththam, Sri saneeswara preethyarththam etc., etc., etc.,,.................................... ad infinitum in his daily sandhya vandhanam. :blabla:

For a Hindu, there is a “traditional” family protocol. Say you are visiting the house of your boss whose name is Paramasivan, whose wife is Parvati, whose children are named Ganesha and Subramania, while Ravi, Soma, etc are domestic helpers. As you enter the house, you will first encounter the domestic helpers and/or the children, you sort of nod or smile in their direction, and then get ushered into the room where Paramasivan Sir is awaiting you. Then you start talking to him, which is the significance of “Sri Parameshwara preethyarththam”….. Since Parvati mami is busy in the kitchen, you rarely get to address her.

Similarly, if you are visiting boss Narayanan’s house, similar situation follows, and you start with “Srimannarayana Preethyarththam”…. And here also Lakshmi mami is busy in the kitchen.

Of course, with modern day pseudo-secular pulpiteers, all bets are off.

Incidentally, the metaphor above can be extended to the question of why Iyengar temples have no Navagraha sthalas.

Paramasivan is much senior in hierarchy, so he has domestic helpers like Suryan, Chandran etc.Narayanan is younger. As brother of Parvati (aka Shakti or Energy), he is very energetic, does all the jobs by himself, so does not need domestic helpers. Narayanan's followers will not encounter domestic helpers when they visit him.

Both Paramasivan and Narayanan are progeny of Brahman. So, when you retire (grow old, become mature), you may continue to visit the ex-bosses, but soon realise that you need to visit the elderly senior to receive his blessings.
